"It was an amazing privilege to have been chosen as one of the participants alongside few others at the Tools in the Trades Bootcamp held at Spark Street, Ottawa last week."... "It was really enjoyable relating my skills with Instructors who were very knowledgeable and had so much experience, including Gas Tech, Aircraft Maintenance and a good number of cool trades you might want to dive into."
"I would like to extend my eternal gratitude for all your program provided to me last fall. I'm here to share with you that I am officially a certified gas fitter and It's all due to you and your crew guiding me through the typical shortfall that troubles many people struggling with searching for a better career. Your program connected me with local employers and I was able to provide a portfolio to a few in specific that were ultimately able to take me on as an HVAC apprentice. After 3 interviews, 2 ride-a-longs and numerous analytical tests. I finally got my shot. I studied myself nearly to tears to get my first ticket and hopefully one day it will all make sense. Thank you to yourself and your incredible crew that are doing their very best to mould our ever-changing future of the trades. If you return to Chatham I would love to share my experiences with people who may be struggling the way I did to get to this point. I'd be happy to help. Thanks again. "
"This event provides me the opportunity of having a career with job security making sure that for years to come my job is there and my family is taken care of. Another reason this event is very important to me is because it gives me a chance to gain apprenticeship right from the bootcamp from the multiple employers on sight who I will get to know while they get to know me throughout the day."
"The tools in the trade bootcamp is very important to me and my family because even though I only have a high-school diploma it gives me the opportunity to do the job I have always wanted without judgement, they even provide us with a starter toolkit so we don't have to go spending money out of our own pocket to get into the trade"
"I would like to thank you for inviting and having me for the Tools in the Trades Boot Camp. It was a very great and valuable experience for me. If I ever get the opportunity to recommend this event to another individual, I probably will as it was a great event to get to know more about the trades and get some feedback from professionals in the fields."
" Thank you for having me, I honestly had an amazing time and really enjoyed learning new things from all the instructors. Continue doing what you guys are doing for the young adults and giving opportunities."
"I attended the Saturday HVAC camp and wanna say I loved it. I spent years in school and working several dead-end jobs with the promise of apprenticeship. I had given up on the trades after ten years of looking and hearing, “we needed someone with more experience.” Eventually, I stumbled into a Tool and Die apprenticeship. The plant closed four years later, and I transferred to a Millwright apprenticeship and I have been a high-speed packaging technician (Millwright 433A RED SEAL) for 18 years. Your info being passed to potential apprentices is invaluable to them. Wow, my career path would have been less frustrating, to say the least. I realized Saturday that my 17 years as a factory maintenance specialist and high-speed packaging technician gave me the transferable skills needed to find an employer willing to help me transition into a certified HVAC technician, and my personal integrity and positive attitude will make me a great asset.
